Broken in the Sweet Potato Aisle

Today as I went to get my hair trimmed, my stylist was interested in the scar from the surgery. I was able to tell her my story and journey that we have taken in the last 2 weeks. She mentioned to me that she worked previously at a "wig place" where people come in to have their hair cut off totally. Due to circumstances like myself.

One client of hers that she remembers vividly was a woman with brain cancer. She had two young boys. This woman told the stylist that her husband left her once he found out about the cancer in her body. I was in such shock to hear of this story. Never had I contemplated that Dave would do such a thing. THANKFULLY!

After the haircut, I went to the grocery store to pick up some items. Clementines & sweet potatoes to name a few. While in the sweet potato aisle, I broke down thinking of Dave's commitment to me and this trial we are going through. I am so loved and confirmed that Dave is going & will continue to stick by me in the weeks and days ahead. I know the vows we made to each other 10+ years ago were not just something on a piece of paper. He is a man of his word. I love him so. He just recently, after a doctors appointment, took me aside and looked at me face to face to confirm his commitment to me. He said "I am with you through all this. I love you. We will get through this together."

Marriage is a wonderful commitment between friends who love the Lord. Dave is definitely my best friend. I wouldn't want anyone else to walk through this trial with. - Except him. He is committed to Jesus and me! Couldn't ask for anything more.

All my love to Dave - Kate

Kate,
I am so sorry for what you are going through. I wanted to let you know that you and Dave are in our family's prayers. My fifth grade class at Twin Oaks has also been praying for you daily.

I can't help but think how many lives have been touched by your strength and courage through this trial. In this blog you have shown each reader a clear picture of God's sustaining love and grace through what he has done and continues to do in your life. May God bless you for your courage, vulnerability, faith, and strength.

kate,

i love how your words just pop right off of this blog and right into my heart! (you definetely have a gift of writing in my opinion.) this last entry of yours is so sweet and tender - Praise God that He knew what He was doing when He brought the two of you together. I love how the Lord knows our mates before we do and all we have to do is wait patiently for the Lord to tell us who we will be "united as one" with here on earth.

i also wanted to give a little shout out to a special Birthday boy... Happy Birthday Stuart.

God Bless you all -
love,

To BLOG or NOT to BLOG...THAT is the question!!! And that HAS been the question for me ever since Wednesday of LAST WEEK (thankyouverymuch) when our computer when blotto, or should I say bloggo, at home! I'm at work now (naughty, naughty me) and so my blogability has returned. Yes, I'm bloggable and blogging at my first available moment in the workplace between plagues and diseases. Over the last few days, I would creep towards the computer terminal SEVERAL times a day in anticipation, sit down, and just absolutely WILT when I read, "This page cannot be displayed." Just FYI, of your 1796 hits on the blog site, 1700 of them are probably ME since this whole saga has begun!! Kate, you may not "need" my daily musings and babblings on this blog, but I think it has, perhaps, made me feel somewhat useful--somewhat of a contributor to your day's mood...to know that I'm thinking of you, praying for you, and "peering in" your windows, so to speak. I actually DID get into the car to drive over and peek in the windows on the ground floor, but I never made it out of the driveway. (Just kidding about this...no, really! JUST KIDDING!) I wouldn't want to be accused of stalking you & Dave. I just LUV YA! It feels good to be back, I, the blogger, blogging to you, Kate, the blog-ee. To be unblogable is a horrific state to be in! The horror! The agonly! I dare say: Alas! Our computer is still having a grand mal seizure at home, so I think I must confine my blogging comments to the workplace. You know that old question posed about if a tree falls in the middle of the woods and no one is around to hear it fall...would it actually make a sound? Well, along the same lines of that query, you may ask: if you take the blogability away from the obscessive-compulsive blogger (though she IS considering therapy), does she still blog in her head and make notes on paper to blog the next time she's able (i.e.: now?) By ALL means, YES, this blogger has been pretend- blogging all week AND weekend in my mind until I could get here and "blog away" for real. And, I must admit, I actually DID make a few notes on a post-it so I wouldn't forget what I wanted to say! The update from Isaac: I asked him this weekend what he would like me to tell you when the computer worked (if it ever worked) again...he replied, "Tell her: JESUS!" I said, "Anything else?" He said, "Nope, that's it!" Well, that about sums it up, doesn't it? In your corner, blogging when I can, but NOT peeking in the windows.....yet.....(totally kidding, no restraining order needed [at this time, anyway]).

Glad to see that the blogger is blogging to the blog-ee again. A week is just not a week without the Vet extradinair checking in on her friend.
I must say that the jobacks and Aunt Dee Dee seem to have quite a loyal following. I for one do not make it through the week well unless I see postings from both women of profound musings.
It is good to see daughter laugh at the lovable communications from her bridemaid. Do you remember those bridemaid dresses? Kate said they looked like pepto bismo. I had to agree. But I also remember that the blogger's jet black hair went well with pepto bismo color. You were quite lovely. Well I know that the doggies of West County are in good hands with such a witty Vet.
Getting ready for Thanksgiving and knowing that I am thankful for all who stand with Kate and Dave as they wait for answers. And so glad we live in a country that sets this day aside to thank God for our great blessings.
P.S. Grandson #1 has taken to scraping Gram's car windows every morning. How thoughful is that? I could get very spoiled.
Soccer Gram signing off and thinking of cajin turkey.

Dear Kate,
How appropriate that you became emotional over your "sweetie's" love for you in the sweet potato aisle! I can't tell you how glad I am for you to have such a great guy. Adversity brings out our true character, and Dave's is evident (as is yours) in this trial.

Kate, I'm concerned about your day today, and I continue to pray. Get good sleep tonight.
Love, Tiffani Gibbs
