Long night

Kate was moved to an ICU room last night around 9:30 pm (only for observation purposes). She was receiving care from the nurses every hour on the hour. She received many different drugs throughout the night including narcotics, anti-nausea, steroids, insulin, anti-anxiety meds, etc.

The steroids (given around 3 am) made it hard for her to sleep as her heartbeat was around 110 beats per minute. However, around 5 am they gave her another anti-anxiety med and that lulled her back to sleep.

I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep, from 1-3 am and 5-7 am. I'm tired but hanging in there.

Thank you to everyone that is coordinating the details of our family's care during this time. It is really appreciated.

Please pray that the Lord will be preparing Kate and I for the results of the biopsy on the tumor. Also, please pray that Kate will continue the healing process.

God bless all of you who are supporting us with prayer and support.

Dave

Dave and Kate,

I have been catching your entries "on the fly" but am unfamiliar with this "blogging" thing so haven't left any comments. I'm going to give it a good college try this time!

How wonderful that we don't need to know how to blog to communicate with God! I have cried out to Him many times over the past few days on your family's behalf.

Not having walked the path you're on, I feel anything I say would be trite or cliche, but I will defer to the Word of God which is living and active! This is my prayer for you today from Isaiah 40:28-31, one of my favorite verses of encouragement when I feel helpless or weary:

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. The will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

May your family clearly know renewed strength from God!

We continue to pray for you!

"Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise."
Jeremiah 17:14

God led me to this verse this morning and I wanted to share it with you.

To Him be all the praise,
Kim

Dave and Kate,

Our prayer for you two right now is that you would focus on the the God of peace - unlike Peter who, during the storm, choose to focus on his circumstances rather than Jesus' open arms (Matt 14). We sure are praying for you during this recovery phase!

P.S. Dave, Adiel also left you an a longer message last night on your email that hopefully you can access.

We are remembering you throughout the day in prayer Kate & Dave. Our van radio is "off" these days (uncommon) so that we remember to pray for you often as we commute about.

With much love,
Maria Gordon

Dave & Katie,
Our prayers for you both, sometimes we do not understand why the Lord does what He does, but HE is in control! Give it all to Him!

Kate and Dave,
My current prayers for the two of you are that God would help you both to feel rested and refreshed, despite your lack of sleep; that you would have clarity of thought, as needed, to process info/make decisions; that the pathology results would be totally benign and would be known quickly; that Kate's pain would be managed effectively, and that you might even share special moments with each other (even in the midst of today) that will become precious memories you'll cherish together in the years to come.... That may seem like a tall order, but not for our God!
It's taking me forever to write this, because my funny two year old, Carly, has interrupted countless times, asking "What's that?", etc. as 2 year olds do. Though I am attempting to continue to parent my children well and keep up with my normal responsibilities around the house, I find myself always coming back to thoughts and prayers for you and the boys. I stayed up till midnight last night just reading all the entries in your blog, waiting for updates, and praying.
It is a strange pleasure, if that makes ANY sense!
Please give Kate my love,
Tiffani Gibbs
