I am up at 4:15 am. My second child woke up with a "bad dream". I went back in his room to pray with him and tuck him back in. Less than 30 minutes later my youngest woke up yelling "mommmeeeee". I went in there to re cover him and pray. My heart is aching for my sons. Please pray for them while Dave & I are in the hospital at night. Of course I can't go back to sleep. My mind starts in "mach" mode once awake.
Some of you are having difficulty leaving a comment on the blog. If that is the case you may call Covenant Christian School and ask them for our personal email. All I ask is that you do not send those generic "groupie" emails in the months ahead. I delete them. - Kate

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:6,7
Lord, we rejoice because you are so clearly found in the midst of pain, fears, and the unknown. We ask that you be present with Kate and her family as they face her day today, with all the changes and challenges that will come with it. Today will have lasting effects on Kate, her marriage, her kids, her home, her life, her faith. Would you be faithful in drawing her close to you, enveloping her in your comforting presence? You ask that we pray according to your will; and we trust that your will is to have Kate, Dave, Carter, Cole and Stuart clinging to you. You are a good God, worthy of all our trust. We are trusting, Lord...amen.
Dear Kate, My heart is with you, today and in the coming days. I was awake at 5am because you were on my mind, and as I prayed for you and your family, I pictured each of your precious boy's faces as I prayed for them.
Know that others are "approaching the throne of grace with boldness" on your behalf, and that you WILL receive mercy and grace in this time of need.
I will continue praying. My sweet Cooper is praying for your boys, too. Love you, Tiffani

Kate-I just wanted to let you know that Danny and I have been praying for you often since we heard the news. May the Lord give you and your family an extra measure of peace and comfort. Love,
Danny and Lizzie Simpson
Kate and Dave, I am praying this morning specifically that the God of all creation who created every fold within your brain would guide Dr. Forget's hands durning surgery, that no move would be made without God allowing and guiding it, that Dr. Forget would have clarity and focus during surgery as never before.
That God would allow you, Kate to slow down that speeding ever-thinking and planning mind of yours :-) and rest in his perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. And, Dave, that God would be a strong rock and comfort to you filling your mind with peace during the hours of surgery.
Your family is in my prayers and I look forward with excitement the great news that God will reveal after surgery!

Psalm 121:1-4
My Help Comes from the LORD
A Song of Ascents.
"I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep."
God is not asleep. He is holding your hand, holding up your head, He will not let your foot be moved. I pray that you will be filled with peace that the Lord is God over all. He is our King who protects, defends and rules over us. He is our Prophet who speaks God's will to us. and He is our Priest, who died for us and prays for us even now.
Our family joins with yours in praying that God will be glorified in all you are going through right now.
Love,
Kim, Bill, Emily, Nick & Noelle
Isaiah 41:10 "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Kate,
Undoubtably you are at the hospital now and going through the usual "hurry up and wait" stuff they always do prior to doing anything. I talked to Mom and Jean a little while ago and you have to ask mom about her conversation with Stewart about going to "vote". There is a bit of humorous miscommunication between the two. Aparently Stewart thinks he's going to get a ride in a "boat" with Mom :)
In any case you have our upmost support. Trust God, take one step at a time, and let us know your feelings. I cant tell you how many people have said to me that they knew of people in similar circumstances who came out just fine after surgery.
Love and Praying for You
Andy
I like Uncle Charlie's idea about a "2nd" Thanksgiving. I wonder if we can get a "2nd" Christmas too? :) :) Just Kidding...Love You Sis
My dearest Kate
I have been weeping and praying out to our ALMIGHT GOD!!! I'm holding my hands up high!!! I'm praying that God will be glorified. I'm holding onto Carter's simple and Powerful Faith and I am lifting up DAve in his peace. These are the weapons of righteousness and the beyond the earth swords of the HOLY SPIRIT that will bring the Lord ALL the GLORY.

Kate,
We are praying for you and keeping you in our hearts at every moment.

We prayed yesterday and will continue to pray for you your family as you go through this time. I know its hard to go through this, although its nice to be able to rest our cares and concerns on Christ. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all your care upon him, for he cares for you. Also, in Matthew 9, when Jesus healed the woman, he told her that her faith made her well. He was saying to her how very special she was to Him and how He is watching over her. In the same way, our savior is saying the same to us when we need His healing hand.
We will be praying specifically for the surgery to go well. That God would be with the doctors and guide their minds and hands, your healing for and for comfort and peace, likewise we will be praying for God to place His arms of contentment around you and your family as you go through this time. That God would give you the peace that only He can give and the assurance that only He can offer.
In Christ,
Craig, Julie, Ethan & Evan
Kate and Family,
These prayers come to you from Ohio. I received a prayer request from Patty's mother-in-law. Our family is praying for you today and in the coming days. I leave you with scripture found in Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." God is with you and your family today and always.
God Bless,
Amy, Bradley, Elijah and Mayah Grace
Kate,
You and your family are in our hearts and prayers. You all have strong faith and with all the prayers and His help, you will get through this.

Dear Kate, Dave, Carter, Cole and Stuart,
I sit quietly by and pray for you, by your side in my thoughts and heart - with you Dave in the surgical waiting room on this longest day, with you Kate in the cold surgical room tucked in with warmed blankets, prayers, and the knowledge of a capable surgeon and with Carter, Cole and Stuart, brave and loving boys during this difficult time. Love and hugs, always, Grammy
Dave, Kate, Carter, Cole and Stuart, We are in fervent prayer for all of you. We have a sovereign God and I was so pleased to hear of the peace He has given you during this time, what an answer to prayer! We will contunue to pray for guidance of the surgeon's hands and for Kate's recovery. Hang in there Dave and boys!

Kate & Family,
We are praying for a quick healing and blessing on you and your beautiful family in the coming months. For the doctors and nurses who come in contact with you that they would see the holy spirit in you. May you touch them, as the hands of god will be touching you. Rest your mind, heart and spirit...know that you have an army of people praying and supporting you.

Kate, Your blog is so inspirational and your and Dave's faith is so apparant that I know it is ministering to many. You are in my prayers daily.
I think one of the hardest things in a trial like this is feeling our children's pain. They are so precious to us that we just want to erase it all away, but we can't.
When I was pregnant with our last child and we found out he had the same syndrome that 2 of our other children have, our oldest daughter expressed her fears and anger. I will never forget her words, "Why is God doing this to us? He's going to have that dumb head and dumb feet and everyone is going to stare at him. It's so embarassing"
These were honest feelings from a twelve yr. old. I knew I needed to affirm them and yet I felt as if a knife were piercing my heart. What had I done? Was having this child a mistake? No, this was God's plan, not mine and I could trust my 12 yr. old to him also. There were many tears and talks and times of waiting and not knowing how things would turn out.
When Isaac was born, this daughter was at the hospital holding and loving him and bonding with him like nothing I'd imagined. And after his surgery to correct his skull deformities, she said, "I liked his old head better" (go figure) To this day he holds a special place in her heart. It has been such a blessing to me to see God work in her life. I know that God will be using your situation for your children's good also.
Thanks for sharing your life and faith so openly with all of us
Marian K.
