Read the blog comments!

After speaking with some sweet ladies yesterday, I want to encourage you to take the time to read the precious comments posted by my friends in MANY places. I understand that you might think they are written just for our family & don't want to intrude. Many comments have been a true source of encouragement to me & hopefully to you as well.

A helpful hint with this blog. When the screen pops up just click on the "post title" to the right. Be sure to read the last Posting First. It goes backwards. The comments will follow our updated post. Hope this helps. I am very new to the "blogging" as well.

Kate

P.S. Dave says that if you want to read the entire blog from the beginning, click on November 2006 under the Archives section on the right hand side of the home page and read from the bottom up.

John 11:1-6 (ESV)
The Death of Lazarus
"Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters sent to him, saying, "Lord, he whom you love is ill." But when Jesus heard it he said, "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was."

This morning I was reading "God is the Gospel" by John Piper and Piper is teaching from this story & I was compelled to share it with you. Look closely at the literal translation here - it is BECAUSE of Jesus' LOVE for Mary & Martha & Lazarus that he stays 2 days longer - allowing Lazarus to die, and then be raised again. It is "for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."

Our God is a God of perfect timing. He is RARELY early, but NEVER late. In this case, it appeared to Mary & Martha that Jesus was late, but He wasn't. His timing was perfect.

I pray that Jesus will be glorified by healing Kate. I pray that the body of Christ, as well as the onlooking world, will be drawn closer to Jesus as God is glorified by your awesome family. I also pray that when the days look dark, that you will remember that God is never late - that He grows our faith & our trust in His perfect will, by making us wait upon Him. May you "not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." And may "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, ... guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:6-7)

We will be praying for you as you go to the doctors later this week.

Keep blogging - yep, I'm a Snodgrass-Blog-aholic. I SO appreciate you allowing us to watch you under this Blog-a-scope.

To Him be all the Glory & Honor & Praise,

Kate's Grandpa here from Columbia,Mo
Mary Jo is taking good care of me. On Monday she made my favorite "Meatloaf". I am getting my "Meals on wheels" Monday through Friday and they taste good. They even give me milk which I don't get in Washington. Last weekend Mitch and the boys(Joseph and Eric) put up a tent on the deck. The boys slept out there in 30 degree weather. I was so curious I had to inspect the tent myself the next day. I play with the dogs and they sure do bark a lot. It sure is noisier here than at my home but I'm not lonely either. Yesterday I helped fold towels for Mary Jo. We are both going to fold her sheets today. You should see the pile she has on her laundry table! Mary Jo is sure busy with 3 kids in 3 different schools and then taking care of the 2 dogs and me. She is also the room mom for Eric's class and that Thanksgiving party is coming up real soon. Today she is going to take me to see a lady who works for "Services for independant living". This lady will determine what kind of magnifier I need since I have Macular Degeneration. I want to be able the read the paper(not just the headlines) and of course Mary Jo's "Readers Digest". Oh Sandy, Mary Jo got a dry erase board and she writes down her schedule for the day so I know where she is at all times. Abbey even wrote down there that she wanted a neck rub at 6pm last night. Kate you are constantly in my thoughts as I pace night and day. I keep wondering "Why Kate God". You better get better so I can still keep giving you those special "popper kisses". I'm not ready to go just yet and don't you forget that! Oh, by the way the temperature here is 42 degrees and we will get rain and snow later today. Love ya Kate Grandpa
