Milestones & Priorities

It is the official 5 week anniversary day since surgery. Yesterday I noticed some significant milestones that will be listed below.

1. took a shower without the shower chair
2. tied Stuart's shoes(actually double knotted them)
3. walked upstairs in the middle of the stairs (normally it has been holding onto the railing).
4. another great item that can only be told in person to a girl. Trust me it was a halleluiah moment.

5. Stopped using step stool to get in and out of bed.

I find family, doctor appointments, Bible study, naps, and home therapy( have at least 10+ HEP's, home exercise program, from therapists that need to be completed) are taking a backseat lately. As I desire to be at the computer to update ya'll. I find there is not enough time in my world. Please know if you do not see a lot of updates that I am trying my best to prioritize my time. I will update as soon as it is possible.

My left hand fine motor is somewhat improving.

Dave and I want to sincerely express how thankful we have been for your prayers. God has been merciful, loving and gracious.

We are praising God that you are experiencing new successes every day. We have joy in knowing that you are are able to see the days as they can unfold into "Needs to do," and "Wants to do." We pray for your continued strength in spirit and body. We ask our Lord to cover your home with much laughter and wonderful times for you, Dave, and your three precious boys.

Praise God for such good progress. I have two fully functional hands and still seem to struggle with "another great item that can only be told in person to a girl. " I miss seeing you. The Hathaways are still praying. Love,

Kate,

Rejoicing with you over your hallelujah moments! (And just for the record, I can't tell you how delighted my little girls would be if we had a shower chair...oh, the beauty salon/hair styling possibilities are limitless!)

Missing you. Privileged to pray for you,

Erika

Dear Lord, please give Kate and her family even more successes today. I pray that she feels the encouragement we seek for her to make her day joyful. Please, Lord, give her laughter, patience, mobility, strength, and a fulfilled heart. Guide the family through these days; the boys at school, Dave at work, and Kate as she goes through her therapy and as she functions as a wife and mother in her home. We thank You for all You are doing for us, through Kate and her family. We pray that we will learn these lessons well and apply them to our daily lives. In Christ's name we pray.

Hi Kate,

Wow! God is so good. Glad to read about all those milestones! I read Laura's post and have to agree: you've got your "fan club" (who would probably prefer to be called prayer warriors!) in just the right spot on your priority list. Thanks for filling us in as time allows.

We will keep praying for your recovery... and for a good night's sleep. Can't wait to read a few more milestones on that list.

Kate,
As already stated, I'm excited to read your updates whenever you have time to post them, and though I love hearing from you frequently, I much prefer you spending time with your boys and doing all the other important things! God really is Good!

Thankful to know of all your progress, and I'll keep praying!

Thanks for commenting on my post, it is nice to know that some people still check it.
As long as I can remember neighbors just don't socialize on EB court during the winter. I do look forward to spring and hanging out on the cul-de-sac and talking. Take care of yourself, I will be looking at for you when the weather gets above 50 degrees. Ha ha

Happy 5 week anniversary!! Keep up the great progress. I'm only 5'2" and with Jim being 6'5", I could always use your old outdated step stool!! (WHY does he have to use the top shelves???) You just keep working, we'll keep praying and soon we'll all party to celebrate your victory (J&J Twiggs)! Until then, write when you can. Hugs, Stacy J

Hey, Kate...know how you wrote @ Proverbs 3:5 just a little while ago...and how that very verse is one that I've been singing to Elijah at nighttime? Well Pastor Bill taught on that Proverb on Sunday, so it must be on EVERYONE'S brain...thought you might like that a few verses down from verse 5 (the "trust in the Lord with all your heart" part) that it says in verse 8 that such wisdom (and pursuing wisdom) will bring "health to your body and nourishment to your bones..." Trust in someone other than SELF is hard...leaving our lives in God's hands is something that is tough...we seem to "take it back" time and time again, only to lay down our desires and our way in his lap once more. I'm hoping that Proverb is STILL bringing blessing to you b/c it's brought blessing to many recently (you, me & Junior junior, and the congregation)...thinking of you tonight! Laura for the Joback

Isaac asked if he could tell you a message: He spoke, I typed...
"One time ago, I wanted a piece of water. At Christmas we just got a book that I lost but then I saw it and I got a big big big tunnel that stops everytime like this. Did you...it's OK to be sick if you want, you can come to every hospital you want. Thank you for getting better and can you pray with your husband and let him get more rest. Thank you. Mom, I'm done."
OK...there you have it. Somewhat nonsensical, but you have it....Hmmm. Ah, well. He's but a young one. The sentiments are there: sharing his life with you, thinking about your illness, and praying for you and Dave (...well...somewhat, anyway).
PS from him: "I love you with my bear." (Decipher: I want my bear to give you a hug). Love the Jobacks

Trusting God that you are progressing daily and that you feel His hand holding you and your family. I pray that you can feel His surrounding you moment by moment every day and night. I hope that your daily routines have taken a comfortable pace. Hoping your weekend will have some extra special joys for all of your family. Praying for God's blessings upon all of you.

I haven't read your blog in a while. I am so happy that you are doing so well.

Reading your milestones and achievements has reminded me of my own stroke recovery struggles. Taking a shower without a shower chair. Climbing stairs, walking without a walker, and now I'm driving.

I had the stroke last Mother's Day, caused by a blood clotting disorder which caused clots to grow all over my body. I am very blessed to be alive. God is so good to me. I have now been able to return to work as a first grade teacher.

I am so happy to read that you are doing so well.
