New Title

Maybe you noticed that the title at the top of this posting has changed from" A Brain Tumor Story" to "Kate's Story". The other day we received a sweet email from someone we have come to respect (our OT). I along with Dave though her point of view was well taken. Here is what she suggested.......

I do have one comment about your Blog though. It is entitled a "Brain Tumor Story" and that just doesn't settle with me. It is not the tumor's story. Do not give it glory. This is your story. This is the kingdom of God's story. The glory of God is in you. Ministry is happening because of this story. The kingdom of God is advance if only in my own heart because of YOUR story. And so why should some un-natural brain tumor get the credit? I guess I just feel that it's so many other story's than the "brain tumor." That's just my two cents. Take it or leave it. I do understand though and I think it's fine the way it is. That's just my reaction.

Thankful for the email suggestion,

kate

I like the change as well - your OT sounds like an amazing person. I've been following your story for a while (came here from Heather's Blog). You're making great progress Kate .... it's really encouraging to come and read how your range of motion is improving.

My sister had a tumor in the same place as yours - she too had surgery to debulk the tumor and came out of it in the same situation as you're in. She was in rehab for a lot longer than you were though, She too encountered the same problems and frustrations that you're experiencing now that you're home.

Hugs and prayers,
Gail

Kate,

It doesn't matter to me what you call your blog, I'll still be reading it!

Hey, you...been thinking about you a lot in this new year with your improvement record soaring (but never as fast or as well as YOU would like, I'm sure) and your doctors "pleased" with your progress...what blessings. I laughed as I re-read these last few posts about he normalcy of home: Gram snoring, Stuart in people's faces, lazy family days, neighborhood parties, clock face lights being "cool," the lack of alarms on your bed...aren't you glad to be HOME? That was a rhetorical question...DUH! OF COURSE you are! Glad you're typing with both cases and that you are enduring the time it takes to write us, your public. We unanimaously thank you for your efforts--besides: it's good exercise for your dexterity! Love from the Joback household to yours. L

Your OT is so right. What an encourager she/he is:) Drew and I memorizing this, and it makes so much more sense why our every word needs to be lifting up each other:

"Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them". Eph 4:29

Definitely think the OT was right that this is a GOD GLORY story, not a tumor story.

YEAH!!Love you the repperts

I like Kate's Story. Your story is His story. I call the tumor history!

The only thing about the name change (which I do like, it seems more 'healthy') is I found your blog, which I read faithfully and is helping me with my own struggle, by searching google for "brain tumor stories." I doubt I would have ever found your blog without the header. I only mention this because if part of your intention with this blog is to share God's glory, and to help others with brain cancer, then you are making it a little harder to find you. Because I'm so glad I found you. God bless.

Kate, I know you only through CBS and by attending your Friday night prayer gathering, but I have seen the strength God has blessed you and Dave with. So I have to agree - I definitely like the new blog title. Before it sounded like the brain tumor was winning, but it's not. God is in control and he never fails, and he is using you in so many wonderful ways. This is your story, and it is benefiting a lot of people while glorifying God. Thank you for sharing.

I wholeheartedly agree, Kate, with your OT. In fact, I have thought the same thing before. Glad you made the change, not just in your blog's title, but maybe also your perspective, too?

That is such an insightful comment because it is Kates story of life..the tumor is not to be dwelled on. Its sort of like the theory of what we focus on expands. We all want to focus on Kate as a radiant healthy child of God who is telling us the story of her life day by day. We should not give the tumor power or significance as its Kates faith and spirt which is the heart of the story. I guess I am just restating what has already been said and I support Kate's Story

I just found your story about a week ago. My heart goes out to you, as well as my prayers. You have shown that the tumor "is SO NOT THE BOSS OF YOU"! Your faith in God is so inspiring!!!
