He Will Lead Us Safely Through

When you pass through the waters . . . they will not sweep over you.
Isaiah 43:2
God does not open paths for us before we come to them, or provide help before help is needed. He does not remove obstacles out of our way before we reach them. Yet when we are at our point of need, God's hand is outstretched.
Many people forget this truth and continually worry about difficulties they envision in the future. They expect God to open and clear many miles of road before them, but He promises to do it step by step, only as their need arises. You must be in the floodwaters before you can claim God's promise.
. . . He will lead us safely through.
Taken from the devotional guide Streams in the Dessert by L.B. Cowman for January 6.

Kate,
I LOVE the passage you just shared...the scripture and the part from Streams in the Desert. That devotional was so precious to me during my struggle with infertility. I am glad you have that to read, every day has some pearl of wisdom and comfort. May the Lord continue to grant you peace and encouragment.
Much love,

Just got caught up. Thank you for the clarification - although (in my opinion) none was needed. I am in 100% agreeance with you (not that my opinion matters) that the decisions made are between you, Dave and God. I want to encourage to keep digging for information as long as you're not overwhelmed with it. I believe that God's peace will be in you as you stay in communion with Him, relying on His strength and not your own. Tough to do in the hard times.
On a different note - I moved your picture today. Sarah went walking through the room it had been in, stopped and said, "Hey mom? Where'd the Snodgrasses go?" It took me a few seconds to get her question. I smiled and said, I hope you find them. She smiled.
You guys are thought of and prayed for often in this home.

Dear Kate,
Thank you for posting the passage and the bit from "Streams". Though it's not new truth to me, it was a perfectly-timed reminder of exactly what I need RIGHT NOW.
See....? You're ministering to people that you can't even see face to face! How cool is that?!

Anyway, thanks again for sharing what you are experiencing. I'm still praying...specifically today for peace of mind and good time with the boys.

carter fixed his own breakfast before school the other morning. he grounded his own flax seeds in the coffee grinder. he then topped his cereal with honey and the grounded flax seed. as been explained to me, the honey is an adhesive, sticking the flax to the cereal; otherwise you have to drink the flax seed with the cereal milk. i wonder how many eight-year-olds are out there grinding their own flax seed.

upon visiting two days ago, i also noticed that stuart seemed more lively. he was jumping, and crawling, and immitating a monkey, among other animals. it must be the flax.

thanks to the artistic eye of carter and cole who picked out my birthday present, i now have a perfect reading lamp by my bed.

the birthday dinner was a success, thanks to grams, and her finicial support, and to aunt julie and uncle dan, for their good company and dinner time commentary. and of course the vivacious snodgrass gang. while savoring our thai food, stuart counted the elephants on the tapestry hanging on the wall. he said, "one, two, elephants!" cole, aka the secret spy, passed over clandestine notes for me and me alone. all the while carter humorously retold his personal experiences of thai food and flatulence, warning nearly everyone in the restaurant. he was also kind enough to offer his free candy, which he found in the vending machine, to everyone at the table. only cole and stuart took him up on the offer. when it comes down to it, i think the boys would still choose sugar over flax seed.

Amen, Sister.
That passage from Isaiah was on my mind that day of your surgery. What a blessed promise. We will never be consumed, drowned or burned up. He is faithful and will lead all who trust in him SAFELY through this life to eternal life with him.
What a beautiful Sunday evening meditation.
