Additional Prayer Requests

Kate wanted me to post a few additional prayer requests this evening. First, that the pain behind her right eye would subside without the need for heavy pain killers. She was having a very painful episode before dinner (pain rating 7 out of 10) and had to take a vicodin. It helped and she took another one before bedtime to help her sleep. Kate doesn't like to take narcotics because they make her tired and loopy. She would prefer to manage the pain with Tylenol alone especially with a daily therapy regimen where she needs to be alert and fully engaged.

Next, Kate requests that she has "Joe" moments here at the rehabiliation center. For those of you following our blog for a while or have read the archives (Dec 06, Jan 06, Feb 06) will know what she is talking about.

Finally, please pray for my back as it has been getting quite a workout over the past few days helping Kate in and out of bed and her wheelchair. I am prone to back pain and it is starting to get a little sore. Hopefully, a trip to my chiropractor tomorrow will help.

Have a great night!

Dave

Kate,

How like you to be looking for other "Joes" who need encouragement. It is a privilege to pray that for you.

"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 5:10-11

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Praying for you,

Judy K.

We are praying for you all. You have been such an encouragement to our family. I'm sure you don't feel that way, but God has used you through this often times dark valley. We pray your heart will continue to sing "It is well with my soul". Blessings.

Kate and Dave,

We are not relaxing our prayers for you. Your prayer warriors will continue to pray as intensely for you as you enter this rehab phase as we did to get you through your successful surgery. We are praying for your spirits, Kate, and for any discouragement to be gone. We pray for bright hope and energy for the task of rehab, and for your bright future! We also continue to pray for complete healing. Dave, keep the specific and detailed prayer requests coming. We are all out here praying!!

We've got prayer going for everything related to you & your situation...letting the Holy Spirit intercede when we don't know what/how to pray....the specific prayer requests are so helpful...thank you for including those.

Dave, praying today the chiro. will help your back.

Dave, thank you for the updates and the new prayer requests to hone in on... Looks like disease and pestilence are rampant in your homefront as well as ours...we have fevers and vomiting over here w/ the little guy (Meredith said when this went thru her home it was followed by the "trots" once the upper GI stuff was done) [groan], so hopefully we can avoid THAT. We'll pray for healing for your little guys (and protection for your littlest) while we pray the same for ours. AND, of course, as ALWAYS, Kate, we cover you with prayer and encouragement each day. Hope you're getting settled in, in your routine of therapy on all fronts, and being cared for hand and foot by the staff there. As far as hands and feet, I'd pamper them myself (mani-/pedi-) if I knew I wouldn't be bringing in any germs that you DON'T need at this point in time. Grrrr. Sending you love this AM. And Dave, bless your back! Laura Joback

Kate,
I am praying for your pain relief. I am not a fan of narcotics myself and when Aven has pain we have no choice. He is not allowed Tylenol or Asprin and narcatics are indeed a pain. While they might ease the physical pain for Aven they leave him tired, cranky, and sometimes depressed. I do pray your eye improves so you can get busy being Kate.

Kate and Dave,

Thanks for the updated list. It's good to know what your specific needs are today, even though God already knows all about it. We are still praying for you throughout each day!

Praying for relief from your backache too, Dave. Hope that trip to the chiro tomorrow does the trick!

Kate, We continue to pray for your healing and strength.
Here's an encouraging verse for you...
"Your light shall break forth like the dawn, your healing will quickly appear, and your righteousness will go before you; the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard." Isaiah 58:8

Take Care and God Bless,

Kate and Dave:
Continuing on the prayer front. Dave, I'm bringing you some brand new Instant Comfort Gel...it's awesome..like Ben Gay, but no smell and it doesn't burn!!! I have back/neck problems and can sooooo sympathize (accupuncture has helped me)! Praying you all stay healthy, strong, encouraged and filled with energy to successfully accomplish the rehab and just the day-to-day grind. Hang in there. Stacy J.

Just to let you all know, Uncle Joe is doing well. He has moved back to Bonne Terre and is enjoying his independence. He asks about Kate daily and is praying diligently for her, as are all of us. Kate...concentrate on getting well.

Kate and Dave,
I'm praying for the specifics you mentioned and am glad to know what they are.
Kate, as I said yesterday in my comment, I have NO DOUBT that you WILL have 'Joe moments' with your therapists, with other patients...anyone you meet, because you are open to those opportunities and you have such charisma while also remaining deeply sincere & genuine (a rare combination of great qualities that make you YOU!). I'm just eager to hear about those moments and the lives affected by your willingness to love on others, even in the midst of your own struggles. You are amazing, Kate!

Dave, ask the therapists (PT/OT) what the proper techniques are for lifting and assisting Kate. They will have expert advice for you. Hopefully your back's better today!

I (again) became teary when I read the comment posted by Joe's neice, Kay. So glad she's following your progress and can update Joe, and so glad to know he's doing so well!

Sending you all hugs-- Tiffani G
