Post-op visit

Kate has been transferred from post-op recovery to ICU. I visited with her in the post-op recovery room for a while. She is very sleepy and groggy (as expected) though she smiled when I mentioned that her boys love her and would be proud of her.

There is still no movement on the left side of her body, not even fingers or toes. This is obviously concerning but I'm not drawing any conclusions yet.

Waiting prayerfully and patiently,

Dave

Hi Dave,

We have been checking your blog all day, but weren't able to post a comment before now. My heart just broke when you said, at the start of Kate's surgery, that comments were appreciated to let you know we were "out here." OF COURSE we are, in LARGE NUMBERS, praying fervently for Kate, for you, for the boys, and for Soccer Gram, as well as all those involved in Kate's care. We will pray specifically for the left side of Kate's body, and for movement to return.

Remember to take care of yourself, Dave, at such an exhausting time as this.

God bless you,
The Byars

We're still praying, Dave.

I'm glad you're not drawing conclusions yet. I'm praying for Kate's brain to settle down (from swelling etc), and for your encouragement -- that the Lord will give you excellent info thru the doctors/staff and give you peace during this early recovery time that can be so hard.

Love and continuing prayers,
Diane & Jack Collins

I think you guys need to make a map - nationwide? worldwide? - of all the people who are praying for you, and send it to school with your boys. What an awesome school project - like Flat Stanley postcards.

We're praying for you from MEMPHIS!

We love you!

p.s. yep, i've checked your blog like 10 times in the past 24 hours, in case you're wondering.

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? Psalm 18:30-31

Praying for you Dave as you wait and for rest for Kate....as the healing process begins

Dave,

Just tucked our kids in bed and we all prayed for Kate. We will continue to pray that the swelling will go down soon and that she will regain movement in the left side of her body. We are praying for rest for you as well and that you will not feel anxious or afraid. Remember that you are in our Father's hands and He will hold you close throughout all of this.

Blessings to you and Kate,
the Andersens

Hi Dave:
We here in Indiana are praying and sending hugs. I've been praying steadly for you, Kate, the boys, Soccer Gram, your parents, and Pattie. At noon today I called our local Christan music station and dedicated "Praying You Through" to Kate. The station put Kate and your family on their prayer list and they have prayer warriors. You have many in northern Indiana praying for you now and throughout this journey. It was a little ironic when I logged on later this evening and saw the song was playing exactly at the time Kate started surgery. I know no one in St Louis heard the song but your sister did (if you go to wfrn.com anyone in the united states can listen online to the station). It was on my heart to do something even though it was small, knowing I couldn't be there, but knowing some how God was letting you all know that your relatives back home are thinking about you and praying and loving you.
For some reason I was compeled to look back at 10/06 and reread the beginning days of the diagnosis of cancer and when Kate had her first surgery. I am amazed and inspired by you both Kate and Dave for sharing your personal journey and touching so many lives on the way. I don't think you realize how many people you have affected through your honesty and belief and ministry. Thank you.
I am praying that Kate's body and mind are resting peacefully and the swelling goes down and the L side is restored. Also praying for you Dave that you can have some peaceful rest tonight, taking care of yourself, and knowing God is by your side through this tough time watching your wife go through what she is- I can only imagine how hard this is and you have been amazing and I'm very proud of you cousin! Also praying for the boys and hoping they have a restful night.Take care and know you are God's loving arms. "Praying you through" this trial.
