I just met with Dr. Forget, he said that he is still unsure why her weakness exists and is surprised by it. It still could be swelling from the operation or the aggressiveness of the surgery, getting into an area of the brain that controls left side motor function. I forgot the name of the area he mentioned.
He said there is slight twitching in her left leg, 1-2 on a scale of 10. She will be starting aggressive physical therapy today after she is transferred out of ICU. Please pray for strength.

I will be praying that this would not be a lasting result of the surgery, but that it would be a very temporary "bump in the road" that is quickly resolved! If anyone is strong enough to fight this weakness, it's Kate. I don't believe I've ever met a stronger woman- physically, mentally, and most importantly, spiritually. Thank you for the updates. It's wonderful to be able to pray for the specifics!
Love,
Nicole
Continuing to pray for Kate and you all.

Still praying for God to continue to take care of all the details and praying for peace, comfort and patience as you wait on him! Love, April
Kate and Dave, even though we are miles away, it's good to know God is just as affective with our prayers!! We have heard bits and pieces from the Wichts and want you to know that we love you and the boys. Brian said last night how he wished so much he could be in his "chaplain mode" in St. Louis so he could come and pray with you in the ICU. We can't imagine what you're going through, but in some way, after the amazing stories of Kate's testimony in the hospital last time, we are anxious to hear how the Lord will encourage others through this ordeal as well. We can only hope, believe in what we cannot see, know that our salvation is truly shown through God's working through us to BE the gospel to those lost in this world. May you BE what others don't know, that He always has His hand on His beloved, that he cares for us like children and knows our every weakness that He may be strong. If we were strong all the time, how would others see His mighty Hand?! We have added you to our church's prayer chain and list. Love, Leigh Ann
Praying for your quick recovery, strength, good pain mgmt., great sleep, overwhelming peace, flawlessly functioning body --all as further evidence of God's mighty hand. Kate and Dave, you are a tremendous encouragement to all of us and an incredible witness for Him. God's got an AMAZING plan for your lives.
You'll never know how many people are praying for you all around the world.
Continual Prayers for Kate..Lift you in prayer as well for continual prayer for continued strenght
The Lord is putting constant prayers in every step I take today.
Love and prayers for Dr. Forget's wisdom, your peace, Kate's strength

I am new to this blog and I'm reading Kate's story for the first time. I am so happy that she is getting good care. You mentioned that she is going to get aggressive physical therapy soon ~ that is a good sign. The brain is a wondrous creation of God, and is very "plastic."
Healing takes place slowly, over time. God is good.
I am a stroke survivor and I've learned so much about brain recovery ~ patience is a key, prayers are important. Reognize the small gains.
We are praying ... hang in there.

Prayers from Miami. Hold on!!!
Praying to our God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think.
Praying for strength for all of you!
Well, now I know why I couldn't sleep last night...seems the Tylenol was practically being given while I was praying for Kate's pain relief...and as an RN I couldn't agree with a better pain relief option given the circumstances. :) And only God could provide 6 hours of sleep while you lay on the floor of the ICU waiting room. I am so thankful for the still small voice inside that prompts us...praise for answered prayers.
Now, I pray for peace and patience for Dave and Kate...that He would remind them of His timing (always perfect) and His ways (higher than ours)...wait patiently on the Lord, yes, wait patiently.
In the sweet name of Jesus, Amen
Praying for you and your family as Kate continues recovering. God knows exactly where any lingering problems are and He will take care of them. I am praying for comfort and peace and patience for Kate as she begins therapy. She needs lots of praise for everything she accomplishes. I pray her hopes are high and the Lord strengthens her physically and emotionally. He is so good and He will bring you through.
