What to pray & more

The following is a list of things Dave & I thought of for others to pray. Please do not limit it to the below items. Pray as the Holy Spirit leads. The top prayer for me personally is the emotional / planning aspect. Not to lose it!

The surgery will take place tomorrow at St. Johns Mercy Medical Center at 11 am. We are to arrive by 7 am. Dave will update the blog with his BlackBerry during the day.

Prayer Requests for Snodgrass Family

For Kate, pray that the Lord would:
top specific in regards to the surgery / post op
** For her emotional response to things to not be affected. Also the organization / planning not to be harmed in any way. This can be the case with removing the anterior frontal right lobe.
** for her emotions prior to the surgery – She has been discouraged.
1. give her body a complete and miraculous healing. For the spectroscopy to be wrong. No cancer to reside in brain.
2. be glorified through this trial.
3. calm her fears and give her peace in the midst of the storm.
4. give the treating doctors wisdom along with the nurses, & anyone else in the room.
Forget (neurosurgeon), Krummenacher (anesthesiologist)
5. guide Dr. Forget’s, hands and decisions.
6. enable the surgery to go smoothly, with no complications.
7. allow all of the brain cancer cells to be removed during surgery.
8. allow no post-op complications.
9. grant a short and restful hospital stay.
10. allow a quick recovery.
11. allow no neurological, cognitive, or personality / emotional deficits from the surgery.
See top of list!
12. give her and Dave wisdom regarding future treatments.
13. allow her to be refined and sanctified through this trial.
14. provide the necessary financial resources to pay for medical expenses.
15. allow her story to lead some to Christ and encourage others.

For Dave, husband of Kate, pray that the Lord would:
1. be glorified through this trial.
2. calm his fears and give him peace in the midst of the storm.
3. allow him to be patient and wait on the Lord and see where he is working.
4. enable him to care for and support Kate.
5. uphold him with various support mechanisms.
6. allow him adequate periods of rest, reflection, reading the Bible, and prayer.
7. allow him to process the appropriate emotions.
8. enable him to trust others with daily household and personal needs.
9. enable him to be focused and productive when at work.
10. allow him to be refined and sanctified through this trial.

For Carter, Cole and Stuart, pray that the Lord would:
1. calm their fears and give them peace in the midst of the storm.
2. grant them hope for the future.
3. enable them to increasingly trust Him.
4. keep them safe and secure while their parents are away.
5. allow them to be obedient and helpful around the house.
6. enable them (Carter & Cole) to be focused and productive when at school.
7. grant them good health and plenty of rest during this time.

8. bring others in their lives to love on them and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
9. grant great play time on Christmas break with each other.
10. fill their hearts with true joy during this time of their lives.

For Sandy, Kate’s mom (caregiver of boys and Kate during this time) pray that the Lord would
1. Be glorified through this trial
2. Calm her fears and give her peace in the midst of the storm.
3. Allow her patience and understanding of each grandson.
4. Grant her good health and rest during Kate’s post op time.
5. allow her adequate periods of rest, reflection, reading the Bible, and prayer
6. enable her to care for and support Kate while Dave is at work in the latter weeks.

7. enable her with the planning of the boys school lunches. (This is a big one for her.)

Don't forget about Jean, Kate's sister aka: aunt Dee Dee. She will be popping in to help when available.

Kate
You are TOTALLY covered in prayer. Please feel at peace with that. You are covered from head to toe with God's sovereign care and compassion and love and grace. GOD IS WITH YOU AND WILL BE WITH YOU THROUGH THIS WHOLE TIME, and after too!! I can speak on behalf of the bloggers that everybody LOVES you to pieces and care so much about you and your family. We will be praying fervently.
In God's ultimate love as He watches over you and carries you through this surgery,

Kate,

I am praying for your fears to be eased this afternoon and evening, for precious moments with the Snodgrass men, and for peace. Of course I'm still praying for complete healing, too. God is sovereign and I know you are all trusting Him... may He continue to draw you closer to Himself today.

On a much lighter note, I heard that pretty PJ's were delivered to your door today. Hopefully they are exactly what you wanted!

PRAYER TEAM reminder for anyone reading the blog: If anyone else is reading this and you (like me) haven't contacted Pam yet, look back a few days in the blog. She is trying to organize round-the-clock prayer for Kate, especially tomorrow. If you want to sign up for a specific half-hour of prayer for Kate, email Pam.

In Christ's amazing love,
Stacey Preis

Kate: Loving you tonight. The boys are bouncing up and down on Isaac's bed on their knees shrieking. It's mayhem here, but my heart is serene b/c I'm thinking about the work that is being done in you. I know you're tired of telling people how courageous you are, I know you have had some heart-to-hearts with God lately about your cancer, I know there's still a lot of details to "do" and stuff to iron out b4 tomorrow when you and Dave drive to the hospital. Yep, those "minor" details of fish feeding, carpool, meal planning and stuff are in your lap (assisted by the masses [your public and family]) but the "major" stuff here (your surgery, maintaining your personality and motor function, being "you" for Christmas...sans a little hair [again]) is in GOD's hands...who doesn't need to putter and plan and make lists and check of boxes on said list b/c he made the universe ex nihilo (out of nothing) in one breath. He's got your back (...and your brain). The Jobacks (PJ shoppers) out.

Kate, Dave & Family,
I am praying for you in PA! I am just another of the many people you don't even know who are praying for you. May you feel each and every one of our prayers enveloping you in the goodness, mercy and great love of our healing Father and may He speak peace into your hearts.

My children are intercessory missionaries at The International House of Prayer in KC. They will also be lifting you up in prayer.

God Bless!

Kate and Dave,

We will be praying for you off and on all day on Wednesday, and during the whole recovery process. I have printed your prayer request list to keep handy. I am looking forward to talking with you after the surgery, Kate, when you are feeling well enough for such things...regardless of how you may feel about ME after having your brain tampered with...you are stuck with me!

Soccer Gram...please call me if you need help with lunches for the boys.

Kate and Dave, I am going to bed and you have been on my mind all day. And I agree with Stacey Preusser on her comment above that you are covered in prayer abundantly. I have friends and relatives praying and they have prayer warriors praying. We all love and care about you. When anyone reads your blog they fall in love with your family. You are such a wonderful witness for Christ. I hope you are able to get some rest tonight and the peace that surpasses all understanding will be with all of you. (Especially, those sweet little boys of yours.) YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE KING and just as he feeds the birds of the field how much more will he take care of you and your needs. God bless you and your family tonight. Praying Fervently, Angel

Kate,

We love you and are thankful for your continued vulnerability as you share your burdens with us. Cast all your cares upon HIM for HE cares for you ... and so do we. Our family is praying for yours.

Kate,
My heart sighs heavily with yours. I can only imagine what you're feeling, and my imagining brings me to tears for you. No words can magically quell your fears and concerns, but God can as you choose and choose again to trust Him. He is 'more than enough' for you, Kate!
I know--easy for me to say--I'm not in your shoes. I CAN speak to how He's carried me through a hefty amount of crap in my own life. And clinging to scripture, repeating it as if it were a mantra, has taken it from my head to my heart where I begin to FEEL His peace in the middle of the yuck.
I am praying for you Kate, and for your family, as well as for every hand that will touch you at St John's.
Love you, my friend.

Dear Kate, Dave, Carter, Cole, and Stuart,
We Hathaways cry out to the Lord:
Psalm 68:28
Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before.

Psalm 18:31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms the Snodgrasses with strength and makes their way perfect.

Proverbs 9:10-11 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. "For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life."

We love you and wait expectantly to see God's grace to you once again,
Love,
The Hathaways

I started praying at 5:23 for you this AM (Wed...the morning of your surgery), even though I wasn't "scheduled" to do so on the 24-hr-day-prayer-extravaganza. BOH-NUS! (Bonus)Your prayer request sheet is tucked in Mike's most worn Bible on the kitchen counter, so I know he was up late praying, too. That's all. Over and out. And you silent bloggers, we KNOW you're out there, pray fervently too! Over and out! Jobacks

I am praying for you all. I had my right frontal lobe removed and it hasn't affected my planning skills, apart from I tend to transpose things.ie put things I need in the bin and keep the rubbish.if I don't concentrate hard My emotional responses are a bit more measured but nothing huge.

Especially Heather said...

Praying for you and thinking about you... I know how terribly hard this is on you and your family... Just picture Jesus right there with you :)
