Waiting patiently

Kate had her stealth MRI at 10 this morning and all went smoothly. She has markers on her head that look like mint green lifesavers candy.

Keep the comments and encouragement coming. I am reading the comments from the blog to her as we wait.

There is a possibility that surgery may begin before 2:30. Kate has a lot of peace right now.

Please keep praying for us.

In God's Hands,

Dave and Kate

Kate,

I sent this information to your email late this morning but not sure you received it, so thought I'd post it on your blog.

I attended morning mass this morning because it seemed like the right thing to do. While praying for you I saw a very clear vision in my head of Jesus touching your forehead with both hands and healing you. It gave me great peace because I know everything is going to be okay.

Don't hesitate to let us know what we can do or whether you need Carol and/or me in St. Louis.

Love,
XXXOOO

Dear Dave, Kate, and family: I just learned of Kate's situation on Sunday morning, during the morning worship service. I've been reading your blog today (Tues), and wanted to send our prayers along with those of your church family. We will be praying for you in our own (Chapell) family, but also in the Choir as we meet on Wednesdays and Sundays. Your honesty about your fears, as well as your faith, is a blessing to me. Already the Lord is using you to touch the hearts of all those who have heard--and will hear--your testimony. Dave, I know that your heart is bursting now with love, faith, fear, anguish...May our tender Father hold you and your boys very, very close. God is very big--and so very loving. May He bless you today beyond what you could have imagined with comfort and peace. Love from the Choir, Kathy Chapell

Hi Kate and Dave-

You are so in my heart today. I am so glad that you are feeling at peace.

I wanted to encourage you about your boys. I've had that ache for my boys too, although I know it is probably different since it is Libby that is sick and not me. I have been AMAZED how well they handle it all. Laura Brasov told me early on too that God not only planned Libby's issues in my life, but the boy's life too. He has prepared their hearts to handle this as well. That was so comforting to me. Also, it has strengthened them in ways they wouldn't have experienced without Libby in our lives. It has given them so much compassion for people with special needs, and many other things yet to be seen. So rest secure in knowing that God WILL take care of the details for your precious boys, and they will pull through this just fine. They have no doubt of your love for them, and they have SUCH a strong foundation, AND many people who love them.

We are praying and walking with you!

Love, Gracie

I just put Stu down for a nap, after eating a good lunch of ravioli and veggies. Ruth Ann Brown had a great idea of engineering an imaginary boat out of a laundry hamper, and then making some oars. That way Stu can perform his civil duty of "boating" for this November election.

Your friend Kate Obertop just called and said that after being out of town for the weekend she just received the news. She sends her thoughts and prayers to you and Dave.

I like Uncle Charlie's idea of a 2nd Thanksgiving.

Kate,
Us girls from Dr. Forget's office have been praying and thinking about you since you first came to see Dr. Forget. We just want you to know that you touched our hearts and enjoy reading all the comments from you, your family and friends. We want you to know we trust Dr. Forget with all of our own families so be assured you are in great hands along with God.

We will see you in a couple weeks after discharge and expect to see that pretty smile!

Perspective of a 3 year old:
Kate: Isaac and I were at the pediatric allergist this morning, and, of course, we were talking about and praying for you off and on. Isaac said, "Mommy, is Kate floating at the hospital with her sharp?" It took me a while to decipher that one...turns out, he is still in the "trying to understand surgery mode" w/ the "sharp" comment....the "floating" part is his way to ask if you were VOTING at the hospital. That was our next stop after the allergist, where we would "vote" and say "yes" or "no." Apparently to a 3 year old, you "float," not "vote," and you do it while you were in surgery with a "sharp" at the hospital. Hmmmmm. The musings of a child... I did tell him that you were, in fact, floating somewhat b/c you were being maintained in an anesthetic plane and on truckloads of medications for pain that probably make you feel like you're floating...I don't think he comprehended that whole part of the conversation. So to him: you're just plain "floating." Hope you're comfortable! He prayed for you and sang Jesus Loves Me (again) for you! Love Laura and Isaac Joback

Kate and Dave, The God of the universe is holding you in the palm of His hand right now. How awesome! Here are some beautiful verses that are on my heart for you:

Isaiah 54:10
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Matthew 11: 28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

We love you.

Kate and Dave- I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and trust in the Lord. Psalm 40 1-3 Praying for you today and in the weeks to come- May this trial be a witness to those who do not yet know Jesus, and an encouragement for those who do, yet are away from Him. You are loved and in the hands of the one who heals. Rest in Him as you wait patiently.......Love in Christ- Jen Peskorse

Kate and Dave,

If I measure friendship by whether or not I've met someone for lunch, I'd have to admit that we're friendly acquaintances at best. But in the last week, I can't even express how much your actions and words of faith have touched me. As you go through this, keep in mind that you will never be able to measure the affect you have on people, but God will.

1 Peter 1:7
Such trials show the proven character of your faith, 1 which is much more valuable than gold – gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away 2 – and will bring praise 3 and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 4

Prayers! Sheri

Snodgrass family you are in our prayers. "Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord." Psalm 31:24
"O my strength, I sing praises to you: you, O God are my fortress, my loving God." Psalms 59:17
"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." Psalms 68:19
